Welcome to RecallSentry. This Privacy Policy explains how Center for Recall Safety ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use the RecallSentry mobile application ("App") and related services.

RecallSentry is a product recall safety application that helps consumers track product recalls from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

By using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the App.

Geographic Scope: This App is designed for use within the United States. Recall information is sourced from U.S. federal agencies and may not be relevant for users outside the U.S.

Product Registration Information (Recall Management Center)

  • Vehicle information: year, make, model, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
  • Tire information: DOT codes, sizes, quantities, production dates
  • Child seat information: brand, model, production dates
  • Food and household product information
  • Purchase details: date, location, estimated value
  • Lot/batch numbers and serial numbers
  • User notes and recall resolution status

Photos and Images

  • Product photos you capture or upload for item documentation
  • Proof of purchase documentation
  • Resolution proof photos

Health-Related Information (with consent)

Food allergen preferences for recall alerts: peanuts, tree nuts, milk/dairy, eggs, wheat/gluten, soy, fish, shellfish, sesame.

With your consent, we process allergen preference data to filter food recall alerts based on your specified allergens selection criteria and provide personalized safety notifications for food products. You may withdraw this consent at any time through Settings > Privacy & Data.

3.3 Service Improvement

  • Develop new features based on user needs

3.4 Communications

  • Send recall alerts and safety notifications
  • Provide account-related communications
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

To use the App, you must accept this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

You may choose to enable or disable:

10.3 Managing Consents

You can manage your consent preferences at any time in-app via Settings > Privacy & Consent. Your choices are recorded with timestamps for audit purposes. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

11. Children's Privacy

RecallSentry is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately. We will take steps to delete such information.

12. Third-Party Services

We use Firebase for:

13. Push Notifications

You can manage notification preferences in-app via Settings > Notifications, or through your device settings to disable notifications for the RecallSentry app.

14. Camera and Photo Permissions

14.1 Purpose

We request camera and photo access to:

  • Capture photos of products for registration
  • Scan barcodes/UPC codes for product identification
  • Document proof of purchase

14.2 Photo Storage

  • Photos are uploaded to our secure servers
  • Local copies are deleted after upload to free device storage
  • You can delete photos from your account at any time

14.3 Permission Management

Camera and photo permissions are optional. The App functions without them, but photo-related features will be unavailable.

15. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

15.1 Purchase Information

In-app purchases are processed by:

  • Google Play Billing (Android)
  • Apple StoreKit (iOS)

We receive: purchase confirmation and product ID, and subscription status and renewal dates.

We do NOT receive or store: credit card numbers, bank account information, or complete payment details.

  • SmartFilter: Enhanced filtering and allergen alerts
  • RecallMatch: Full product registration and matching

16. Offline Functionality

16.1 Local Data Storage

The App stores data locally to support offline use:

  • Cached recall data
  • Registered products
  • User preferences
  • Pending synchronization queue

16.2 Synchronization

When connectivity is restored, local changes are synchronized with our servers. Conflict resolution prioritizes the most recent changes.

17. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements.

Notification of Changes:

  • Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification
  • The "Last Updated" date will be revised
